Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang is in his second term, having been first elected in 2014 and then again by a wide margin in 2018.
Mr. Prang is a product of the Midwest, born in Detroit, raised in Warren, Michigan. Mr. Prang graduated from Michigan State University before relocating to California where he served for nearly 18 years as a West Hollywood City Councilmember as well as four terms as that City’s mayor, among many other positions in the public sector.
Upon taking office in 2014 as the Los Angeles County Assessor, Mr. Prang implemented sweeping reforms to ensure that the strictest ethical guidelines rooted in fairness, accuracy and integrity would be adhered to in his office.
The Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office is the largest office of its kind in the nation with 1,400 employees and provides the foundation for a property tax system that generates $17 billion annually.
